If you have more time to spend in Finland, you may be interested to know that the Arctic Circle is just 200 kilometres north of Oulu. There you can also meet Santa Claus (it´s true, even in the summer!). In Lapland there are also a lot of possibilities for real fishermen, if fishing interests you.

For people interested in war history, the municipality of Suomussalmi (200 kilometres east of Oulu) is worth a visit, please check battles of the Winter War. In Suomussalmi there is quite an impressive museum of that time. The exhibition in Raatteen Portti and the winterwar in Suomussalmi.
